Overview

From the founding of this nation, the United States has celebrated a rich immigrant heritage. In this activity, students will graph data that reveal how many people have come to the United States and from where they came. They will then use graph interpretation skills to assess trends for particular regions over time.

Part I: Opening Prayer and Warm-Up

Students will read a series of Scripture verses and answer the question: “What does God say about how we should respond to immigrants?”

Part II: Activity — Graphing Immigration

In this activity, students will graph data that reveal the numbers of immigrants who have entered the United States and their region of origin.

Part III: Reflection

In this final reflection, students will evaluate what the numbers say about immigration in the United States and how their faith affects that interpretation.
